The draft estimate of the Vote for C. & M.E.S. 1951/52 has now been finally closed, and provision is included for the sum of £150,000 as a grant to the Hong Kong University. In other words, the proposal made in our letter at No. 39 on the 1950 file has been accepted. I do not think, therefore, that it is necessary at this stage to bother the Treasury for a reply to that letter. It is in fact not usual for separate replies to be sent in these cases.
